School Workshop with Haberdashers’ Aske’s Federation Trust

This event included a demonstration of the digital resource, as well as an interactive exploration of the website with the students.

 

‘Whose Voices?’, Oral History Society Annual Conference

6 June 2025 (Glasgow)

Maya Parmar and Aleena Din delivered the workshop ‘Voices from the Margins: South Asian Britain’, which included a sound bath featuring clips from the project’s oral history collection.

 

Post Office Cultures, University of Huddersfield

19 March 2025 (Online)

Aleena Din and Maya Parmar presented the paper ‘Researching South Asian Britain: Methods of Recovery and Preservation’ for a seminar series at the University of Huddersfield. 

 

User Experience Workshops

February 2025 (Online and in-person)

The project team hosted multiple user experience workshops with wide-ranging audiences, including an online workshop with the general public and an in-person event at Manchester Central Library. The purpose was to gather feedback on various elements of the digital resource, to improve usability and accessibility.

12-13 September 2024 (Belfast)

Aleena Din delivered the paper ‘Digitising British-South Asian Histories: Visualisation, Access and Storytelling’ during a conference on digital humanities, hosted at Queen’s University, Belfast.

 

‘History and Archives in Practice’, Institute of Historical Research

6 March 2024 (Cardiff)

Aleena Din delivered the paper ‘Remaking Britain: South Asian Connections and Networks, 1830 to the Present: A Focus on Wales’ for a conference organised by the IHR.
